Jodhpur, Rajasthan
A forty-acre working farm, green against the Thar, outside Jodhpur.
Mharo Khet is a patch of deliberate green in an arid landscape — a working forty-acre farm on the outskirts of Jodhpur where guests can join the day's farming if they want to, or simply walk the fields and eat what comes off them.
The ten cottages are named for raags — Megh, Malhar, Bhairavi, Khamaj — and each is furnished differently: seashell lamps from Satna, Channapatna wooden toys, Srinagar paper mache, backstrap-loom textiles from Phek.
